Bloons Tower Defense
More games to play
Bloons Tower Defense is the original browser strategy game from Ninja Kiwi that launched the entire Bloons TD series. You place towers along a fixed track, upgrade them between waves, and try to stop every colorful balloon from reaching the exit across 50 rounds. It runs free in any browser with no download or sign-up needed, so you can play it unblocked at school or work on any device.
What is Bloons Tower Defense?
Bloons Tower Defense is a fixed-path tower defense game where balloons (bloons) travel a winding track and your towers shoot them down automatically. You spend money earned from popping bloons to buy new towers and purchase upgrades. Waves grow harder round by round, introducing faster bloons, layered bloons that contain others inside, and the tricky black balloon that standard towers cannot pop. The game ends when you survive all 50 waves or when too many bloons slip through and your lives run out.
Towers and how to place them
Click any tower in the buy panel, then click an open spot beside the track to place it. Click a placed tower to view its upgrades and buy them. Tower stats appear on the right side of the screen so you can compare range, fire rate, and cost before committing.
| Tower | What it does | Key upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Dart monkey | Shoots a single dart at nearby bloons | Piercing darts: hits multiple bloons per shot |
| Tack tower | Fires tacks in 8 directions around itself | Faster shooting for dense clusters |
| Bomb tower | Lobs explosives that pop groups at once | Required to pop frozen bloons |
| Ice tower | Freezes bloons in a radius, stopping them briefly | Wider freeze radius |
| Super monkey | Extremely fast laser fire, shreds late-game bloons | Expensive but the strongest tower available |

Wave progression and tricky bloon types
Early waves are slow red bloons you can handle with dart monkeys alone. By the mid-rounds, blue and green bloons appear, moving faster and requiring better coverage. Black bloons show up in the later waves and cannot be popped by ice towers. Frozen bloons can only be popped by the bomb tower, so buy bombs before ice or you will waste money on a combo that does not work. The super monkey becomes affordable around the later rounds and is worth saving for.
Tips for surviving the later rounds
- Stack dart monkeys on corners where the path bends so each one covers a longer stretch of track.
- Buy the piercing darts upgrade early. It turns dart monkeys from single-target shooters into crowd clearers.
- Place tack towers where bloons cluster at tight turns, not on straight sections.
- Get a bomb tower before you buy ice. Bombs unfreeze and pop in one shot; ice without a bomb wastes rounds.
- Save up for the super monkey before round 40. It handles the dense late waves better than piling on more cheap towers.
